Bourbon enthusiasts have something new to which they can look forward later this month, as the Friends of Lake Barkley plans to host the first-ever Bourbon, Beef and BS event.
The event, which will serve as a fundraiser for the friends organization -- a group dedicated to improvements at Lake Barkley State Resort Park -- is set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31 at the park conference center.
Bill Samuels Jr., president emeritus of Maker's Mark, will speak during the event. The event includes a meal with beef from Jolly Farm in Cadiz and samples of Maker's Mark.
Prior to the dinner, Samuels will sign unopened bottles in the lobby of the conference center for ticket holders. Samuels served as president of Maker's Mark for 35 years before retiring in 2011. He oversaw the growth of Maker's Mark into a national icon and is the seventh generation to continue the family tradition of bourbon making.
Tickets are $50 a person and seating is limited. Tickets are available at the park's front desk and from the friends group.
