Calloway Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Cirrus Hatfield resigned this week after being arrested on a DUI charge.
Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship said Hatfield was driving on Ky. 94 about 1 p.m. Friday when she got into a wreck and law enforcement was notified. Blankenship said Hatfield was turning into the Murray Estates subdivision when she "missed the turn and ran over a stop sign." The Calloway County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and administered a blood alcohol test, which showed Hatfield's blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit.
Hatfield was arrested and taken to Calloway County Jail.
Blankenship characterized Hatfield's resignation as unfortunate, but the Commonwealth's Attorney Office has a strict zero-tolerance policy when it comes to DUIs.
"It's a big loss, she is a great talent," he said. "All I've got are good things to say about her work ability. But that's just one of those things we can't tolerate."
