Hopkinsville -- Heritage Bank honored its most recent scholarship recipients at the 14th Annual Scholarship Fund banquet, including two Trigg County High School students.
The scholarships are presented in honor of a community member in each market area who has contributed to helping children and education, and were recognized at the ceremony as well. The Scholarship recipients for the 2017 school year were presented their awards amongst their families and school administrators.
"Our Heritage Bank Scholarship Fund is one of the largest investments we make to enhance the educational endeavors of students in western Kentucky and middle Tennessee," said John Peck, CEO of Heritage Bank. "Over the past 13 years, we have awarded more than $312,000 to 624 students. This year we awarded an additional 63 scholarships, bringing our total to 687 scholarships awarded to date."
In attendance were HopFed Bancorp and Heritage Bank board members, Community Board members from the bank's market areas in Kentucky and Tennessee, Heritage Bank executive staff, Market Presidents and managers, school guidance counselors and principals, and the recipients and their families.
The evening began with dinner and concluded with door prizes featuring the centerpieces containing several must-needed items for college-bound students. CEO John Peck was the keynote speaker for the evening.
Scholarships were provided to all qualified public and private high schools within Heritage Bank's footprint. The graduating seniors were awarded scholarships and presented with plaques. Heritage Bank also presented its annual Alumni Scholarships. "These two educational awards go to previous scholarship students who are enrolled in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year in college," commented Peck. "Each of this year's recipients will be eligible to apply for the Alumni Scholarship next year," Peck added.
Trigg County area students receiving scholarship awards included Drew Pulley and Alyssa Taylor of Trigg County High School. These scholarships were awarded in honor of Mary Lander.
