Funeral services for Duran M. "Frosty", Martin, Sr., 92, of Trigg County, were held, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Reverend Bob McIntosh and Reverend Joel Benson officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Ray Cotton, Gerald Cotton, Larry Hooks, Martin Hughes, Marty Lewis, and William "Pippy" Tyler. Burial followed at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Mr. Martin passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at his home in Trigg County.
He was born February 28, 1925, in Paducah, Kentucky, the youngest child of Rufus and Lura Rogers Martin. He attended school first in Lamasco, Kentucky, then Paducah, graduating from Paducah Tilghman High School on May 26, 1943. He entered the United States Navy a month later, on June 28, 1943. Following his service in WWII, he farmed for many years in Trigg County. Mr. Martin was recognized by the Lyon County Soil Conservation District in 2012 as a Master Conservationist. He was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church in Trigg County.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Esther Cotton Martin, Trigg County; one daughter, Relma Martin (David) Miller, South Jordan, Utah; one son, D.M. (Jennifer) Martin, Jr., Cadiz, Kentucky; two grandsons, Caleb Martin and Daniel Martin, both of Cadiz; one sister-in-law, Gloria Martin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Audelle Martin Biggs,; and two brothers, Gerald Martin and James Merrill Martin.
