Lady Wildcats bring experience to the plate

The Trigg County Lady Cats softball team is excited for the upcoming season, and they've got eyes on the prize.

"Our goal this year is to win the district," Head Coach Toree Rogers said.

It's optimistic, but the Lady Wildcats have experience on their side. This year, the Lady 'Cats are some of the oldest girls they have had in the past few seasons. This will help the Lady 'Cats because of the experience and maturity on the team. Experience is a key when it comes to working as a team and winning at a high competition level, Rogers said.

Key players for the Lady 'Cats will be Addison Rogers and Hannah Colbert. Addison Rogers is finishing her Lady Wildcat career this season. She is playing at shortstop and is a key player for defense and at bat.

Colbert is the pitcher for this year. She has been putting in plenty of work in the off season to get prepared for this season.

Playing as a team is a key concept for the Lady 'Cats, as well.

"We have to make sure we can get Hannah, Addison, and Reagan (Melton) up to bat," Rogers said. "These are big hitters for us."

The Lady Wildcats will next face Crittenden County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Marion.
